The design of the EdCity hoardings

The creative idea for the hoardings surrounding EdCity stemmed from the idea that EdCity is a ‘place to grow’. Just as a trellis provides the structure for plants to flourish, EdCity weaves together state-of-the-art community facilities to provide a foundation for community to thrive.

The natural elements of the design reflect the space it will become when the building works are complete - a wide, green pedestrian boulevard with mature trees and planting.

The design is the product of a collaboration between the EdCity team and young people aged 8-19 from WEST Youth Zone and Ark White City Primary Academy. The children wove strips of paper together, freely adding flowers, leaves and plants, to create a rich tapestry of life. Their colourful creations inspired the designs that you see on the hoardings around EdCity.
